🐝 The difference you can taste

Plenty of bags use wax. Ours keeps the good stuff in.

A lot of “beeswax” bags use heavily refined, bleached wax — or no real beeswax at all. Arslantra is coated in natural, minimally processed beeswax, the way it comes from the hive, so the bag breathes the way bread storage should.

Let's let bread breathe

Sealed plastic traps damp air around the loaf. A waxed cotton bag lets extra moisture out, which helps keep the crust crisp.

Kinder to your crumb

Less trapped humidity means a less welcoming home for mould than an airtight bag.

Fresher for longer

Bread keeps its balance of a crisp outside and a soft inside for more of the week.

Why other options fall short

Plastic bags

No airflow at all. Moisture condenses inside and the crust turns soft and sticky.

✗ Traps moisture

Plain linen bags

They breathe — but with no wax coating, bread dries out quickly.

✗ Dries bread out

Bleached wax wraps

Heavily refined wax can look the same but is often more cosmetic than protective.

✗ Heavily processed

Synthetic wax

Paraffin and petroleum-based coatings — not what most people want next to their food.

✗ Synthetic coating

Swap plastic for something natural.

One Arslantra bag can replace a long line of single-use bags, wraps and boxes — and it's made to last.

An old habit, brought home
Hikayemiz

An old habit, brought home

Arslantra started in our own kitchen.

We kept buying good bread and kept throwing half of it away. It went dry in a plastic bag or turned mouldy within days. It felt like a small waste, but it happened every week.

Then we remembered how bread used to be kept: wrapped in cloth, left to breathe, and still good days later. We wanted that simple habit back in a form that fits a modern kitchen.

So we made a bag from cotton and real beeswax. Nothing more, nothing hidden. It keeps the crust crisp and the inside soft, and it means less bread in the bin.

That’s all Arslantra is: an old, honest way of keeping bread, made for the way we live now.

Arslantra is that idea, made for your kitchen.

A question we hear a lot

“Why not just freeze it?”

Freezing works in a pinch — but here's what tends to happen to the loaf.

Frozen bread
❄️ Freezing

Frozen bread

  • Ice crystals — can leave the crumb dry or rubbery once thawed
  • Freezer smells — bread soaks up odours from everything around it
  • Stales after thawing — the clock starts again, often faster
  • Needs planning — you have to wait for it to defrost
  • Toast hides it — but soft breads rarely feel the same again
Beeswax bread bag
🐝 Arslantra

Beeswax bread bag

  • Natural balance — crisp outside, soft inside
  • Breathable — doesn't trap moisture like plastic
  • Texture intact — the crumb keeps its structure
  • Ready when you are — slice any time, no thawing
  • Tried and tested — the way bakers stored bread for generations

Why freezing isn't the answer

Ice crystal damage

As bread freezes, water forms crystals that can disrupt the crumb's structure.

Staling after thawing

Once defrosted, bread can firm up and go stale quickly.

The beeswax way

Just enough airflow to let damp escape, while keeping natural moisture in the loaf.

Works for every loaf

One bag that gets every bread

Why one bag works for every type

Whether it's a crusty sourdough, a moist banana bread or a delicate gluten-free loaf, bread has one main enemy: trapped moisture and poor airflow. Breathable beeswax lets extra moisture out while protecting the crust and crumb.

All the other favourites

Sourdough

Keeps that crackly crust without sealing in the moisture that softens it.

Crust stays crisp

Baguettes

Long and exposed — the bag wraps the full length and lets it breathe evenly.

Crunch preserved

Homemade bread

No preservatives means a shorter shelf life — beeswax helps you get more out of every bake.

Lasts longer

Croissants & pastries

Airtight boxes trap steam and flatten layers. Gentle airflow keeps them flaky.

Flaky layers

Bagels

Not rubbery, not gummy — just the chewy texture you want.

Chew preserved

Flatbreads

Stay soft and pliable, ready to fold, roll or stack.

Stays pliable

The three things every bread needs

Controlled airflow

Too little and mould moves in. Too much and bread dries out.

Moisture balance

Excess moisture escapes; the right amount stays in.

Gentle protection

A natural wax coating instead of plastic film or synthetic sprays.

Whatever bread is on your counter right now — Arslantra was made for it. 🐝

Another common question

“Will it work in humid weather?”

Good question — here's the honest answer.

Breathable storage makes even more sense when it's humid

Plastic traps humid air around your loaf. A beeswax bag lets excess moisture escape instead.

Why most storage struggles in humidity

In humid climates the biggest problem is trapped moisture. Sealed bags and airtight boxes hold damp air right against the bread.

Arslantra does the opposite: the beeswax coating breathes, so moisture can escape while the bread stays covered.

Breathable by design

Waxed cotton lets excess moisture out instead of sealing it in.

Natural coating

Real beeswax on thick cotton — no plastic film.

Balanced humidity

Helps avoid both soggy bread and bread that dries out.

🚫 Plastic

Plastic in humid weather

  • Traps moisture — like a little sauna for your loaf
  • Condensation — the crust turns damp and soft
  • Mould-friendly — warm, wet and airless
  • No airflow — nowhere for moisture to go
🐝 Arslantra

Arslantra in humid weather

  • Moisture escapes — bread stays covered, not soggy
  • Less condensation — the wax lets the bag breathe
  • Fresher for longer — results vary with bread and climate
  • Natural materials — cotton and beeswax only

Why our stock is sometimes limited

[Edit to match how you really make and source your bags.]

Arslantra started small, inspired by the old European way of storing bread in real beeswax cloth. As more people found us, we partnered with experienced makers who follow our exact materials and process.

Every bag uses thick cotton and natural beeswax. Because natural materials take time, we make bags in batches — and when a batch sells out, we wait for the next one rather than cut corners.

No shortcuts on materials

Real beeswax and thick cotton in every batch.

Made in careful batches

Each batch is checked before it ships.

Natural ingredients

Cotton and beeswax — nothing synthetic.

Made to last

Reusable for a long time, and kinder to the planet than single-use plastic.

Why we only use natural beeswax

No plastic coatings

Nothing synthetic sitting against your food.

Gentle on your kitchen

Beeswax has been used around food for generations.

Bread that breathes

The coating lets moisture out instead of trapping it.

Kinder to the planet

Reusable cotton and wax instead of a stream of plastic bags.

No funny smells

Your bread tastes like bread — not like packaging.

How it works

It's not just wax. It's beeswax.

A natural material bees have relied on for millions of years — now working in your kitchen.

Bees keep their hive clean and dry. We borrow their idea.

Inside the hive, bees use beeswax and propolis — a resin they collect from trees — to seal and protect their home. Arslantra uses natural, minimally processed beeswax so your bread gets a breathable, natural cover.

Breathable

Lets excess moisture escape from around the loaf.

Protective

Covers bread without sealing it in plastic.

100% natural

No synthetic preservatives or coatings.

What is propolis?

Propolis is a sticky resin bees gather from tree buds and bark and mix with beeswax. They use it to seal and protect the inside of the hive.

Researchers have studied propolis for its natural properties for many years. Because we use minimally processed beeswax, more of its natural character is kept. [Only make specific claims you can back up.]

✓ Compared

Why other options can't match it

  • Plastic bags — no airflow, so moisture stays trapped
  • Linen without wax — breathes, but bread dries out quickly
  • Synthetic coatings — may look similar but aren't natural beeswax
  • Arslantra — breathable cotton and natural beeswax together

How it looks after your bread

1

A breathable layer forms

The waxed cotton surrounds the loaf while letting excess moisture out.

2

Moisture stays balanced

Not too damp, not too dry — the conditions bread likes.

3

Bread stays fresher

Crisp crust and soft crumb for longer, with no preservatives.

Nature solved this a long time ago.

Bees have protected their hives this way for millions of years. Arslantra simply brings the same idea to your kitchen — no plastic, no compromise.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about the product, shipping, returns and more.

What makes Arslantra different from cheaper bags?

Many low-cost “wax” bags use synthetic blends or plastic coatings. Arslantra is made from cotton coated in natural beeswax — no plastic film, no shortcuts. You can feel the difference the moment you hold it.

Will my big sourdough fit?

Each bag measures [width × height] — room for a large boule, a tin loaf or two smaller loaves without squashing.

How long will my bread stay fresh?

It depends on your bread, your kitchen and the climate. Breathable beeswax helps the crust stay crisp and the crumb stay soft for longer than a sealed plastic bag.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it in cool water with a little mild soap, then let it air-dry. Avoid hot water and the washing machine to protect the wax coating.

Will my bread taste or smell of beeswax?

No. A new bag has a light, natural scent that fades quickly and doesn't pass on to your bread.

What if it isn't right for me?

Olivia Thompson – Really clever idea

Ok so mixed feelings about this purchase. On one hand absolutely love how functional it is and yes, the bread is soft and fresh in these bags.
I purchased the trio bundle. Here's my displeasure.... In the purchasing app no where does it allow you to choose your designs and more important what is shown as potential images of designs, I didn't even get. My design isn't even a choice when I purchased. I wish I could attach a picture of what I got, but not at all the ones on their site. Nor was it a design I would have chosen willingly. Sadly I purchased 3 in a bundle all the exact same, 2 were gifts for my sisters, and the only reason I'm not returning it, is because it works ( although this is my first loaf of bread, time will tell).

Way better than plastic bags. They hold a big loaf keep it fresh for days and look really nice. I rinse them inside out now and then and that’s enough. Told a few friends alread

Jack Mitchell – Quality feels solid

England - 08 January 2026

Nice quality. I used to use towels or plastic in the freezer. I found other beeswax wraps sticky but these aren’t. Good clip solid fabric. Bread still dries a little but it keeps longer overall. I’ve had no mold issues but I also make sure they dry fully if I rinse them.

I like these bags they’re cute and bread stays soft inside. Crumbs sometimes stick to the wax but it’s not a deal breaker. Looks nice on the counter too.
